Frequently Asked Questions

1) Why is online ordering slow or not working at all?

If you’re connecting to the Internet with dial-up service (as opposed to DSL or cable), SHARE’s online ordering system probably won’t work for you. Unfortunately we can’t do much about this issue, so please place your order in person, over the phone or via mail. Visit our How To Order page for details on all the ways you can place your order.

2) Can I use my Mac to order?

If you’re on an Apple Mac using the Safari web browser, our online ordering system probably won’t work. However, online ordering will work on a Mac if you’re using the Firefox web browser. Download Firefox for free at www.mozilla.com/firefox/.

3) Why do I receive an “Invalid Security Certificate” error?

SHARE’s online ordering system is completely secure. If your Internet browser’s security level is set VERY high, then your computer will give you this error message when you try to enter the online ordering process because you are entering a secure portion of our server. If this is the case, just click the option that lets you proceed or ignore the warning. Or your browser may not let you proceed into the online ordering process at all unless you change your computer’s security settings.

4) On the screen where I enter my contact information, why doesn’t it let me proceed?

In order to proceed, all of the information fields must be filled correctly. The phone number field ONLY accepts numbers—no special characters such as ( ) or – . The email field must have a valid email address—no spaces are allowed, plus it must have an @ symbol and a valid domain at the end such as .com or .net.

5) On the screen where I select the food, why don't the totals extend?

SHARE’s online ordering system uses a program called JavaScript to do this calculation. This is a common web browsing support program that comes pre-installed on most computers. For most browsers you can use the Options or Settings function to check if JavaScript is installed and/or enabled. If you don't have JavaScript installed on your computer, you can download it for free at www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp.

6) Is SHARE online ordering really secure?

Yes, it is completely secure. That is why when you enter the online ordering process the web address at the top of your browser bar starts with “https”. Some browsers will also display a lock icon either at the top or the bottom of the window during the online ordering process. While not all browsers will show this lock icon when using SHARE’s online ordering system, the system IS totally secure.

7) Why didn’t I receive the email with my receipt?

It’s possible that the email with your receipt was caught by the Spam or Junk email filter that is run by your email program or Internet Service Provider. So first, check your Spam or Junk email folder to see if you have received an email from onlineordering@sharewi.org. Then for the future, you might want to check your Junk/Spam filter settings, or add the onlineordering@sharewi.org email address on your “White List” or “Safe Senders List”. If you still can't find your receipt, we can re-send the receipt via email or send a copy to you via postal mail if necessary. Just let us know at info@sharewi.org or 800-548-2124.

8) Why can’t I open my receipt?

You must have the free Adobe Reader® installed on your computer to view & print the receipt. Visit www.adobe.com to download the free Adobe Reader. Install the program, and then go back to the email with the link to your receipt and try to open it again.

9) What if I can’t print my receipt?

Let us know and we will send a copy of your receipt to you in the postal mail. Send an email to info@sharewi.org or call toll-free 800-548-2124.

10) Why can’t I find my nearest host site?

First, when you are on the host site search page, make sure that you use the drop-down box to adjust the search radius appropriately. For example, if the nearest host site is 6 miles away, but you’re searching for host sites within a 5 mile radius, then your search will not find the host site. Another possibility is that the host site has closed for the month, or permanently. Send an email to info@sharewi.org or call toll-free 800-548-2124 with any questions.

11) Can someone else pick up my order for me?

Yes, that’s fine. It’s a good idea to give them a copy of the receipt to take with them when they pick up your food.

12) Can I order food for someone else?

Yes, you can. Just enter the recipient’s name and contact information as the member at the beginning of the process. Then when you get to the payment page, enter your billing and credit card information. If you want to purchase food for someone else AND you also order food for yourself, you will need to enter the OTHER person’s email address when ordering their food. We can’t accept two orders from the same email address for the same month. If you're having trouble, please call our main office toll-free at 800-548-2124.

13) Can I use my Quest/Link/Bridge (food stamp) card to order online?

Sorry, USDA rules currently prohibit SHARE from accepting food stamps for online orders. We hope this rule will change in the future, but for right now that is the situation. So currently, orders paid with Quest/Link/Bridge cards will need to be taken either in person, over the phone, or via mail. See our How To Order page for details.

14) Can I change or cancel an order that I already placed?

As long as there is enough time before SHARE Day, you can change or cancel your order. You will need to call our main office toll-free at 800-548-2124 and ask for our online order specialist. We can make arrangements for a refund or additional payment as required.

15) When I start online ordering, why does it tell me “This portion of the site is unavailable”?

Every month after the ordering deadline, it takes a day or two to post the next month’s order form for online ordering. If you would like to order for next month right away, call our main office toll-free 800-548-2124 Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm or contact your local host site.

16) If I received an error message at the end of the process, did my order go through?

You need to call our main office toll-free at 800-548-2124 and ask for our online order specialist. Do not try to place your order again, as it may create a duplicate order and charge your card twice.
