I've been volunteering at SHARE for years. I help people total up their orders on SHARE Day and answer any questions they have. The food I order each month is the basis of my menu planning. The variety is wonderful and the quality is consistently fantastic. Due to my allergies and dietary restrictions I really appreciate the fact that the entire selection is available "a la carte". I eat healthier, better, home-cooked foods because of SHARE. I've lost over 100 pounds and am still losing because of the better, nutritious foods from SHARE that allow me to cook meals from scratch so I can limit my intake of unhealthy ingredients. I meet some of the nicest people each month when I work at the distribution site. Being wheelchair bound, I am picky about where I go when I venture out and SHARE gives me one place each month that I don't want to miss!

Living in a family with a disabled husband and two special needs children makes working impossible and money very tight. SHARE has enabled me to feed my family nutritious meals at a savings we can enjoy. SHARE also has given my special needs son a sense of being needed. He loves to help unload the tuck, put labels on food packages and have others say “Hi!” to him. Without SHARE, our family would not have the food we do have. About a year and a half ago, I lost my job and had to accept a new job at a reduced salary. I am the single parent of two teenagers, so I go through a lot of food and the cost was really hard to bear. When the local newspaper ran an article about SHARE and the cost savings, I knew it was for me! I also told my mother, who is disabled. She and her sister also live on very limited means and also started ordering each month. The SHARE cost savings, great quality food, and the wonderful service we get from the Lake Superior SHARE site have really made our lives better. Thanks, SHARE!

A friend introduced me to the SHARE program when her church became a host site. I have not been dissatisfied with any of the products that I have received over the past four months. The produce is always good-sized and is very fresh. The frozen products, dried goods and canned goods have also been very good quality. My husband and I have 4 children — two of whom are teen-aged boys — so we are thankful for ways to cut our food bills! SHARE is a wonderful resource for all people in our communities — regardless of their economic situation. I hope more people become familiar with what SHARE offers, and begin to utilize this program. Every month I look forward to ordering, and I can’t wait for pick-up day. SHARE gets two thumbs up from me!

Recently, I found myself in the same situation as hundreds of other Americans. I lost my job. As the only source of income for my family, this was a huge blow. Fortunately, I was able to find new work. However, I took a major cut in pay. When I looked to the state for assistance, I was told I made too much money to qualify. I found myself unsure on how I was going to feed my three children. So I went to the Internet and found SHARE. Thanks to SHARE’s low pricing on food, I can afford to buy healthy, nutritious food for my family to eat. I don’t have to worry about my kids living off of nothing but ramen noodles. I am now a dedicated member of SHARE. Thank you for making it a little more affordable to eat.
