Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons canola or other vegetable oil
4 pork chops
1/4 Cup flour
Salt and pepper to taste
4 apples cored, peeled and quartered
Directions:
Put the flour, salt and pepper into a large freezer bag. Pat the chops dry with a paper towel, put them in the freezer bag, close it and shake. Heat the oil in a Dutch oven or large skillet until it shimmers. Carefully place the chops in the pan and resist the temptation to move them for 3 minutes. Turn the chops over and brown the other sides for 3 more minutes. Turn the heat to very low, add one cup of water to the pan and loosen the browned chops with a wooden spoon. Add the apples and cover the pot. Cook on the stovetop for 35 to 40 minutes. Cooked rice is a good side dish for this winter comfort meal. Serves 4.
