The mobile food sale service that we started last year has a new name! We are reintroducing it as SHARE Mobile Market, offering the same great savings of 30-50% on food in several Metro Milwaukee neighborhoods. This project is funded in part by generous gifts from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and the Ceres Foundation. The purpose of the SHARE Mobile Market is to bring good, affordable food to neighborhoods lacking access to a grocery store.
Currently the Mobile Market makes five stops per month—see the schedule below. At each stop, we set up a temporary sale. It usually includes products like the ones on the regular monthly SHARE order form, as well as some additional products. The advantage is that shoppers at the Mobile Market do not need to pre-order or pre-pay. All they have to do is show up and shop! This makes it possible for those who miss the monthly deadline to take part in SHARE’s unique food buying club.
The grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation has allowed us to add another staff member, Antonio Butts, to work with the organizations that host the Mobile Market. Antonio is a native of Milwaukee, with strong roots in service to our community. Previously he worked with Boys and Girls Clubs and also with the foster parent program of Lutheran Social Services. If you have an idea for a SHARE Mobile market location, please give Antonio a call at 262-783-2500 x224.
If you live in Milwaukee, feel free to stop in to any of the sales listed on the Mobile Market page of our website. This is a great way to purchase SHARE food in between the monthly distribution at your host site, or to catch the savings if you missed the deadline.
