25 Years Of Service

by Paulette Flynn, SHARE Executive Director

At this time 24 years ago, a small, dedicated group of people were breathing life into SHARE with the financial backing of St. Vincent de Paul and the leadership of Deacon Don Borkowski and others. October begins SHARE’s 25th year as the upper Midwest’s #1 food buying club! Here are some highlights from our 25 years:

• Every single month, SHARE reaches more than 20,000 people with good food and hundreds of volunteer opportunities.

• SHARE host sites operate in four states in partnership with churches of all denominations, community based-organizations, civic groups and service clubs.

• Members may conveniently pre-order though their host site, by phone, mail or online.

• In Milwaukee, people in neighborhoods without good grocery stores can shop at more than a dozen locations served by our Mobile Market.

• This year, SHARE received the “Golden Carrot Award” from the state of Wisconsin for improving access to fresh produce.

• SHARE’s Promise on the order form shows our commitment to member satisfaction, offering a credit or refund if expectations aren’t met.

• SHARE offers a monthly organic produce assortment and frequently features locally grown organic meats.

So what’s next? This time of year, we launch our Share The Season Campaign to provide great holiday dinner packages at a great price. You can help us spread the word so more people can enjoy the special savings of our holiday offers. With the economy still so tight, I invite you to begin our 25th year of service by reaching out so we make sure everyone can “Share Food, Share Family and Share The Season.”
