I love distribution week in April. It’s the week that the rest of the country joins us in celebrating the wonderful work of volunteers! At SHARE we do this every month, but during National Volunteer Appreciation Week we like to pay special tribute to all of our volunteers.
Did you know that last year volunteers gave more than 10,000 hours at the SHARE office and warehouse? That’s on top of the countless hours given by our host site and Mobile Market teams at over 200 locations, our board of directors, the Mitten Plus Project, and other volunteers who help with special projects. It is because of SHARE’s volunteers that we can pass on great savings on food to our members.
So who are these super volunteers? They are people who give their time to make a difference for friends and neighbors. Some are older, with lots of experience to share. Others are just getting started, like the youth groups who come to the warehouse. What they have in common is a volunteer spirit that motivates them to get involved in good deeds.
I invite you to join me in thanking all SHARE volunteers. They are the heart of SHARE. We are honored by their gift of time and talent in service to the community.
P.S. SHARE sends a BIG thank-you to Todd Moro & Racine Danish Kringle and Sylvia Zimmer for their huge help with this month’s Volunteer Appreciation activities.
